CrossPoint Church is a Christian church and a part of the Free Will Baptist denomination. As such we hold the following beliefs:
The Bible | We believe that the Bible, as given to us in the 66 books from Genesis to Revelation, stands alone as the inerrant, inspired, infallible Word of God and has been preserved for every generation. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
God | We believe in the one true and living God revealed to us in the Bible, infinite in power, wisdom, goodness, and love, and existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each of whom possesses all the attributes of deity.
Jesus Christ | We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal and only begotten Son of God, born of a virgin, and both fully God and fully man. He is the One once crucified for our sin, the now risen and glorified Savior and Lord, who mediates between us and God and provides us access to the Father through His intercession. None can come to the Father unless they come through Him.
Holy Spirit | We believe that the Bible ascribes all the attributes of deity to the Holy Spirit. It is He who convicts and convinces men of their sin. He also convinces man of that which is right, and that a final day of judgment will come. He comes to live in us at conversion, opens our understanding to the Bible, and leads us into the truth.
Man | We believe God created man in a state of innocence. Man, being tempted by Satan, yielded and willfully disobeyed God, becoming a sinner and incurring God's judgment upon sin. All of Adam's descendants inherit his fallen nature and thus have a natural inclination to sin. When one comes to an age of accountability, he is guilty of sinning before God and in need of salvation.
Salvation | We believe we receive pardon and forgiveness for our sins when we admit to God that we are sinners in need of the Savior and place our faith in Jesus's sacrifice on the cross as our own substitutionary death. Salvation is by grace alone and not of works. Though it is God's will that all be saved, since we have the power of choice, God saves only those who repent of their sin and believe in the completed work of Jesus on the cross. Those who refuse in this life to repent and believe have no later chance to be saved and thus condemn themselves to eternal damnation by their unbelief.
Baptism | We believe baptism is an outward symbol of a believers new birth in Christ. Our practice is to baptize by immersion, and it is only for those who have personally believed in Christ. Baptism does not aid in obtaining eternal life.
Perseverance | We believe that there are strong grounds to hope that the saved will persevere unto the end and be saved because of the power of divine grace pledged for their support. Since man, however, continues to have free choice, it is possible because of temptations and the weakness of human flesh for him to fall into the practice of sin and to make shipwreck of his faith and be lost.
Statement on Gender, Sexuality, and Marriage
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (cf. Genesis 1:26-27). Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (cf. Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (cf. Genesis 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (cf. Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are not in accord with the Bible nor the ministry of CrossPoint Church.
Statement on the Sanctity of Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception.
